Food for Thought

To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

The cross from above

The cross from above, originally uploaded by haechoo.

I shall ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him, but you know him, because he is with you, he is in you.

M.E.

M.E., originally uploaded by haechoo.

I love this shot. Walked by the building and glanced past this reflection. Re-traced my steps and just knew I HAD to take this shot. :)

Spur of the moment. ;)

Light makes photography.
Embrace light.
Admire it.
Love it.
But above all, know light.
Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.

Official Opening of Singapore Flyer

Singapore Flyer, originally uploaded by haechoo.

Decided to drop by the official opening of the Singapore Flyer which occurred on 15 April. Loved this HDR shot.

This was taken during the 5-minute fireworks display. Overexposed it a little to create this special effect.

Down the road less travelled

Down the road less travelled, originally uploaded by haechoo.

One of my favourite poems when I was studying literature in secondary school.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference

Chek Jawa

Chek Jawa, originally uploaded by haechoo.

My first HDR image. I took three pictures of the same landscape but of different exposures and combined them using Photomatix. The landscape was simply stunning during low tide. Will try and do a comparison image during sunset in May. :)

Something to think about

Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution.

Simply look with perceptive eyes at the world about you, and trust to your own reactions and convictions. Ask yourself: "Does this subject move me to feel, think and dream? Can I visualize a print - my own personal statement of what I feel and want to convey - from the subject before me?

Questionable Query

Questionable Query, originally uploaded by haechoo.

Where am I? Who am I?
How did I come to be here?
What is this thing called the world?
How did I come into the world?
Why was I not consulted?
And If I am compelled to take part in it,
Where is the director?
I want to see him.
