A little black lion,
was lashed with streaks of green.
Inflicted with a festive condition,
It'd only roll and preen.

The drumbeats urged him into action,
to the wooden pole ahead.
Unused to being ordered,
He blinked hard,
and glowered.

He crouched into a dark omega.
Then with an spritely spring
He was perched on the pole.

Proud and smug,
it didn't purr,
but from its snarling mouth
a stream of well wishes did unfurl.
